It’s Britney, bitch… Actually, it’s someone that kinda looks and sounds like Britney Spears.
The first trailer for the upcoming biopic on Britney Spears is here and it’s not as cringe-inducing as we thought it would be. It’s not going to win an Oscar, but it may avoid the Razzies as well.
Actor Natasha Bassett takes on the role of one of the world’s biggest pop stars in the unauthorized biopic, with Bassett nailing Spears’ speaking voice in the trailer—which even helps mask the fact that the actor shares little resemblance with the famous star.
The highs and lows of Spears’ personal and professional life are on full display in the new trailer for Britney: Ever After, which seems to touch on a little bit of everything from the pop star’s life. Spears’ infamous breakdown that included the singer shaving her head before attacking aggressive paparazzi with an umbrella is depicted front and centre in the trailer, as is her 2004 wedding to Kevin Federline.
The film begins with Spears’ childhood in Louisiana and follows her career to the Mickey Mouse Club and beyond, with actors cast to portray her parents, sister Jamie Lynn Spears, manager Larry Rudolph, childhood friend and short-lived spouse Jason Alexander, and choreographer Wade Robinson, who was reportedly the third party that caused the end of Spears’ relationship with Justin Timberlake. Actor and dancer Jenna Dewan Tatum is also being played by actor Tamara Thorsen. Five actors will also be portraying boy band NSYNC in the upcoming film, although the famous group didn’t make the cut for the trailer.
Spears’ camp have made it clear they are in no way involved in the film, but that likely won’t stop fans from tuning in.
Grab your Starbucks and a pack of gum y’all, the Britney Spears biopic Britney: Ever After airs February 18.
