Ashley Tisdale has returned with another unplugged cover from her Music Sessions video series—and it may just be her best one yet.
Tisdale has taken on the great Britney Spears, transforming her 2003 hit, “Toxic,” alongside husband and composer Christopher French. It’s an oh-so-adorable duet.
The HSM alum strips down Spears’ pop mega hit, turning it into a mature ballad. The classic dance beats and Bollywood-esque strings of “Toxic” are replaced with Tisdale’s sultry vocals and the slow picking of French’s acoustic guitar. The result is a sexy, grown-up serenade—better for a slow dance rather than Brit’s airplane hook-up.
Since launching her Music Sessions web series last October, Tisdale has racked up nearly 20 million views. Besides Britney Spears, Tisdale has covered Paramore’s “Still Into You” and also performed her own 2009 hit “It’s Alright, It’s Okay.”
Tisdale also did a duet with High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hugdens last month of Elle King’s “Ex’s & Oh’s” which was especially popular, sending Disney Channel fans into a whirlwind of emotions and racking up over 15 million views.
