Valentine’s Day is here, which can act as a great reminder to tell that special someone in your life just how much they mean to you. Unfortunately, if you’re feeling extra single on February 14, Valentine’s Day can really suck.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. Sure, being in a relationship can be great, but the best Valentine’s Day is spent with important person in your life.
Being single isn’t a reason to close the blinds and stay in bed all day feeling sorry for yourself. It’s a day to claim your independence, turn up your headphones and get down with your awesome self to these solo-loving singles.
“Love Myself,” Hailee Steinfeld
Start Valentine’s Day (and every other day) with a reminder of who the most important person in your life is—YOU.
“Dancing On My Own,” Robyn
Sure, Robyn is pretty heartbroken in her track “Dancing On My Own” and you may also be feeling the same way this Valentine’s Day. But the best remedy for a broken heart is to have a cry and then pick yourself back up and start dancing on your own.
“Me, Myself and I,” Beyoncé
Beyoncé’s heartbreak track is a great reminder to stay true to yourself in any relationship. Slay all day.
“Touch The Sky,” Kanye West
Love yourself as much as Kanye loves Kanye and you’ll be able to touch the sky.
“Stronger,” Britney Spears
Ms. Spears’ loneliness ain’t killing her no more, so why should we let loneliness hurt us? If it’s a good enough attitude for Britney, it’s good enough for us.
“U Don’t Have To Call,” Usher
Usher’s 2001 hit “U Don’t Have To Call” was all about hitting the club instead of sitting home to wait by the phone. Of course, in 2018 our phones come everywhere with us, but the sentiment of forgetting the person that isn’t worth your time is still the same. Dating will be difficult regardless of how many phones we carry around in the future.
“Ridin’ Solo,” Jason Derulo
Granted, most of us can’t dance as well as Jason Derulo, but if you turn up his 2010 jam “Ridin’ Solo” and dance around your bedroom, no one will know the difference.
“Sorry Not Sorry,” Demi Lovato
Leave your apologies in 2017 and bring your badass self into 2018 with Demi Lovato’s self-empowerment anthem.
“I Don’t Need A Man,” The Pussycat Dolls
Whether you’ve just gotten out of a relationship right before Valentine’s Day or have been solo dolo for as long as you can remember, The Pussycat Dolls are here to remind you that you don’t need a partner to be fulfilled.
“Feeling Myself,” Nicki Minaj feat. Beyoncé
We don’t always recommend following celebrity advice, but when it comes to Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé, take notes.
“I Love Myself Today,” Bif Naked
Canadian singer Bif Naked gave us a self-empowerment anthem that is perfect to start your morning any day of the year, Valentine’s Day included. Why buy chocolates and flowers for someone else when you deserve to spoil yourself?
“Shake It Off,” Taylor Swift
Valentine’s Day is for couples. That’s what people say. Mmmhmmm. That’s what people say. Mmmhhmm. But you just keep grooving and shake it off.
“New Rules,” Dua Lipa
Valentine’s Day may feel like the best day to call your ex, but if they’re you’re ex for a reason, remember Auntie Dua’s rules. One—don’t let him in. It’s all there in the chorus.
“Miss Movin’ On,” Fifth Harmony
If this is your independence day, Fifth Harmony are here with your anthem.
