Make Me Video

Britney Spears is coming for her pop princess throne and has the video to prove it. The singer just dropped the video for “Make Me,” the lead single from her upcoming ninth studio album Glory, set to be released August 26, and it is h-o-t.

The video awkwardly opens with Spears and a group of female friends getting their brunch on before inviting a guy to audition for the video and ‘bring his hot friends.’ He delivers, and the next day the women are treated to a parade of shirtless men, with one guy getting lucky enough to hit the sheets with Spears as her friends watch on screen. Um, totally normal?

Britney’s booty has a starring role in “Make Me,” receiving ample screen time and likely motivating fans everywhere to hit the gym asap.

The new video is equal parts Britney’s iconic “Toxic” video and The Backstreet Boys’ audition-turned-lovefest ’90s classic “As Long As You Love Me.” For her part, Spears has never looked better. The Las Vegas singer has been posting selfies showing off her fit figure on Instagram, with today’s video reaffirming Spears’ hard work in the gym and onstage. Again, dat booty.

Rapper G-Eazy appears on a TV screen for his verse, slowly unbuttoning his shirt in a shot that doesn’t really fit. It’s oddly placed during Spears’ pseudo-sex scene, it’s shot in black and white, and he stays clothed during a clothing optional music video, heaving on the ‘optional.’

The new video features a number of not-so-subtle product placements, including BMW, Orange Theory Fitness, Sony and EOS lip colours, which gets a seductive plug at the top and tail of “Make Me.” Expect sales of the lip ball to skyrocket in the next 24 hours.

“Make Me” may go down in history as Spears’ sexiest music video, which is saying a lot from the woman that has brought us…well, every video she’s ever done. That’s including The Smurfs video for “Ooh La La.”

It appears that Spears’ album cover for Glory was shot during the filming of “Make Me”, with the singer wearing the same lace top in both.

The double dipping of music video and album cover shooting could be a result of the rumoured re-shoot for the “Make Me” video. An earlier version was shot with Spears’ “Everytime” director David Lachapelle, with Spears uploading what looked like images from the shoot to her Instagram.

The director has now removed his name from the video and a second version has been filmed, the same version that was released today. It could be possible that what was just the photoshoot for the Glory cover was turned into a music video, which may also explain the weak premise, not that it really matters. We don’t think most viewers will notice much beyond Spears’ barely-there outfits.

In addition to the “Make Me” video as well as Glory’s title, cover and release date, Spears also dropped the previously teased track “Private Show” in full this week.

Branching out with her sound, Spears worked with producer Young Frye and writer Carla Marie, who penned Beyoncé and Naughty Boy’s dreamy collaboration “Runnin’ (Lose It All).”

The lap dance-loving, Motown-esque track is unlike anything Spears has released before and like “Make Me,” we’re definitely into the change-up. We are ready for Spear’s new Glory era.
